About Finding North
Since I started my journey in life as a financial coach I've learned that most of the large financial institutions that exist today have no interest in teaching anyone anything useful about money, and in many cases they willfully misinform us. I've also noticed that our education system provides little, if anything, in the way of financial literacy training, and sometimes what is presented is provided by the same institutions that are trying to misinform us. So it leaves little wonder then, as to why so many Canadians feel lost when it comes to their finances.
As a financial coach, when I help people and families I consider it my job to act as a compass to help them get pointed in the right direction - to "find North" if you will. However, I don't just stop there. I make it my mission to be their own personal trail guide to lead them through the forest of misinformation, myths and confusion about money that exists today, so that they can reach personal and family financial independence.
This website, Finding North, is not meant to take the place of a caring, competent financial coach, but rather to act as a supplement to that professional advice. Through the articles and videos posted on the blog, as well as the comments and conversations that take place on my Twitter and Facebook profiles, I hope to provide some common sense tips about money that will make complicated financial concepts seem easy and accessible for everyone, and also make the process fun and enjoyable.
I wish everyone the best of luck on their own journeys towards financial independence. I hope you will join us on the trail of learning and have fun with us while we improve our financial IQ together. If we keep going together we can make it to the top of that mountain you see in the picture and enjoy the view and enjoy our life.
Happy learning,
Dave "The Money Guy"
